Toothache Home Remedies

Toothaches are a very common ailment. Many get them at night because of the increased blood pressure in the head. Still for others, they get them because they have dental issues that need to be addressed.

The good thing is that there are a lot of home remedies out there that provide some temporary relief. Note: we said temporary, obviously if you have a deeply decayed tooth seeing your local dentist should be the first order of business. If however you can't see a health care professional right away here are some tooth ache home remedies. Keep in mind that not every home remedy works the same way with everyone, so often testing different home remedies to find out what works for you is the first order of business.

Vanilla extract. Because extracts in general, vanilla being no exception, contain alcohol a few drops place right on the aching spot can give you a bit of relief. Other extracts like almond extract work as well.

 Acetaminophen or common aspirin helps to relieve pain as well.

Although every tooth ache is different some get relief by pressing something hot against the aching tooth. For example a hot tea bag or a piece of cotton that has been soaked in hot water. This doesn't work for everyone though for some heat will aggravate the pain and not relieve it.

Clove oil is a mild antiseptic. You can apply a few drops of this oil on the afflicted tooth. Some also report getting some relief by using oregano oil.

Wheat grass juice is an old-time and well tested an respected tooth ache remedy. It kills bacteria and so should be in your tooth ache prevention arsenal.

Garlic and rock salt. Millions swear by it. Put a clove and garlic and a piece of rock salt on the pain point. Most get relief within minutes.

Alcohol. Soak a piece of cotton in whiskey or some other hard liquor and apply it to the afflicted tooth. (Obviously if you're not intending on operating any heavy equipment to include your car.)

Preventing Toothaches with Hydrogen Peroxide  Perhaps the most sage advice in the case of escaping tooth pain is P.M. or preventative maintenance. Brush your teeth after meals. Use wheat grass juice to clean up your mouth after eating.

Or even better than that, rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide 3% solution to kill the bacteria in your mouth that start the whole tooth decay process in the first place. It's the bacteria in your mouth that are allowed to roam freely and create plaque that create the layer of film you feel on your teeth if you haven't brushed for a bit. You'll be pleasantly surprise to find how fresh and clean it makes your whole mouth feell.
